Cat Fleas, Dog Fleas
When fleas make your home their home there is only one way to eradicate them completely and that is by using a pesticidal treatment strong enough to kill them. These pesticides require a certificate to purchase and use.
I am trained in the safe use and safe storage of pesticides for eradicating fleas and carpet moths/beetles and can treat your home for flea, moth and beetle problems.

What Do Fleas Look Like?
  • length – adult fleas are approximately 2.5 mm long
  • color – dark in color, ranging from brown to reddish brown
  • body – thin & flat with hair
  • mouthparts – adults have mouthparts which are used to extract the host’s blood
  • legs – six long legs
  • no wings – fleas are wingless
  • jump – capable of jumping large distances from host to host
Individual fleas are difficult to kill by hand and typically require chemical treatment.
The bodies of fleas are thin and flat, allowing for easy movement through an animal’s fur. Their bodies are also covered in hair that serves to root them to the host.
Fleas are commonly visible moving in infested pet’s fur. Their presence may be marked by reddened skin.
Interestingly cat fleas require an enzyme in cats blood in order to reproduce, although they can feed from human blood they cannot reproduce with out the enzyme found in cat blood. The same is true of dog fleas, they must feed from dogs blood to be able toreproduce.

The process involves a thorough vacuuming of all carpets and soft furnishings such as sofas as well if you require, this can be done by your self before hand if you wish to save money. Operators must wear a protective suit and use a respirator at all times during the application. The treatment is then applied onto carpets, floors, floorboards, skirting boards, etc
Leave area for at least 1 hour to dry, when solution has dried it is harmless to pets and humans. It is functioning on a very small scale but being strong enough to kill fleas and moths, carpet beetles etc on contact. The flea is a very clever survivor and protects it's young inside a hard case which the pesticide cannot penetrate. That is why a second application is required approx 14 days later when the young have hatched from this case and are now vulnerable to the second treatment and will then die on contact before feeding and laying more eggs. Flea eggs are always located nearest to their source of food mainly being the cat or dogs bedding. Others will appear in dark areas such as skirting boards and carpet edges but the majority will be in/under pet bedding.
Your home needs to be vaccant of pets and humans for the application process approx 20-30mins ideally 1 hour after which your house can be used as normal. It would be beneficial to launder all bedding on this day too. Discounts apply when combining carpet or upholstery cleaning with this flea treatment service.
